Nardin Academy is seeking a dedicated Montessori Certified Teacher to co-lead a Lower Elementary (ages 6-9) classroom. The ideal candidate will have American Montessori (AMS) or Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) certification and a deep commitment to the Montessori philosophy, fostering a nurturing and stimulating learning environment that encourages independence, curiosity and respect for others.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Classroom Leadership: Guide students in a prepared Montessori environment, implementing lessons that align with Montessori principles and the school’s curriculum
- Individualized Instruction: Observe, assess, and support each child’s academic and social - emotional development through individualized and small group lessons
- Classroom Management: Maintain a peaceful, organized, and engaging classroom environment where students feel safe, valued and encouraged to explore
- Collaboration: Work closely with assistant teachers, colleagues, and administrators to ensure a cohesive educational experience
- Parent Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with parents through conferences, progress reports, and ongoing updates about their child’s development
- Professional Development: Stay updated on best practices in Montessori education through ongoing professional learning and training opportunities
- Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student progress, observations, and lesson plans using Montessori aligned assessment tools and transparent classroom software
- School Community Involvement: Participate in school events, faculty meetings, and other community building activities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Designs curriculum areas and arranges furniture for optimum use of space and prepares an environment with well-defined curriculum areas and a complement of materials appropriate to the needs of the children.
- Develops and implements individual and group lessons.
- Supports and implements standards of AMS accreditation and state recognition.
- Creates and prepares materials to meet the needs and interests of the children.
- Establishes a professional relationship with parents.
- Maintains inventory of classroom materials and furnishings.
- Monitors student progress.
- Maintains and updates academic records.
- Uphold professional standards of personal presentation, punctuality, professional courtesy, and discretion.
- Appropriately carry out specific assignments, including but not limited to, service learning, advisory programs, assigned supervision, and other areas as determined by their supervisor.
- Engages in self-reflection and annual development of a growth and renewal plan based on the Characteristics of Professional Excellence.
- Develops and implements weekly, monthly, and annual classroom goals.
- Comply with the policies and procedures articulated by the school’s Faculty Handbook.
- Overtly supports and acts in accordance with the Academy’s mission
- Establishes professional relationship with staff, working cooperatively to meet the needs of the children at all times, to include before and after school programs.
- Works collaboratively with co-teachers

Qualifications
- AMS/AMI certification required, (Lower Elementary: 6 – 9 years)
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- First Aid/CPR training or willing to obtain
Working Conditions
The work environment is a Montessori classroom setting. The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate, but occasionally high depending upon student population and activities. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions and/or outdoor weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and video display terminal. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus and peripheral vision.
Wage
$ 36,000 to $ 42,000 annually
