Diversity Equity and Inclusion

Dear Nardin Community,

DEI is not a trend, buzz word, benchmark, or an end goal. It is a way of being and doing.  This concept guides the work of the DEI office at Nardin academy.  The work of advancing diversity, equity and inclusion is about how every person is seen, valued, and treated with dignity. It is how we honor our shared humanity. 

We must not only define these words, we must also be vigilant in our commitment to build and sustain a community that embraces it. Nardin is one of those communities.

Over the past year we have accomplished a lot. And we are just getting started,yet recognize  there is still much to do. We are proud to share some of our accomplishments in the 2023-2024 school year:
  • Formed an all academy DEI committee formed
  • Participated in 3 diverse learning experiences with students beyond the academy walls
  • Celebrated Pride month 
  • Fundraised $5133.60 for social justice organizations
  • Held prayer service in memory of the 5/14 Tops massacre with the entire Nardin community
  • Partnered with Say Yes Buffalo as a sponsor for a city wide DEI conference  
  • Highlighted student insights on woman’s day on social media
  • Focused on learning more about the vast cultures at Nardin
  • Delivered introduction to DEI for 4,5,6,7 and 8th graders
  • Won two of the top 3 prizes at the Urban League MLK writing contest, and 11 honorable mentions
  • Attended a DEO train the trainer conference at UB, with 16 students completing
  • Received 3 Urban Urban Leadership Learning Community scholarship spearhead by the  Guidance office
  • Created Community Engagement scholarship for graduating DEI champions  with gifts from our families
  • We am genuinely excited about the possibilities that lie ahead of us
